"más" functions as an adverb or comparative adjective. In this case, "más" is being used as an adversative conjunction so it should be written "mas". Without an accent.

Original: El trabajo del pensamiento se parece a la perforación de un pozo: el agua es turbia al principio, más luego se clarifica.
Fixed: El trabajo del pensamiento se parece a la perforación de un pozo: el agua es turbia al principio, mas luego se clarifica.
