[BUG] Checkpoints feature is disabled because of nested git repos

a workound is to open each repo in a different vs code windows but i which we dont have to. btw i dont have this issue in cline.

I'm exploring a potential fix for the checkpoint feature being disabled with nested git repos. I'll open a PR to share progress.

I've opened PR #8434 with a fix for this issue: #8434

The implementation changes the behavior from completely disabling checkpoints when nested git repos are detected to excluding those nested repos from checkpoint tracking. This allows the checkpoint feature to continue working for the main repository while ignoring changes in nested git repositories.

The PR has one failing CI check for translations (the new info messages need to be added to all language files), but all other tests and checks are passing. The core functionality is working as expected.
