HID: how to deal with devices that are not class compliant?

On OSX, yes probably (I'll have to double-check) at least in the case of the Extreme 3D, but not the G13 which needs a separate program to run.
On Linux the access is really to the raw device and I am reading the report descriptor directly from the device, so if the device does not have a class compliant descriptor, then we're at a loss. I will have to see if in such cases I could go through a different backend interface (the joystick interface) - rather complicating the backend.

I have an xbox controller (which is quite nicely built) which works under GeneralHID but doesn't work with HID. It is not class complaint.

There are some devices that are supported by LID but not by HID, so I do
think that some of the nice interfaces of GeneralHID should be ported to
LID as well (in as far as they are not coming from there already), so
that that system is still an alternative.
Then we could of course as well have a LIDMKtl.
