Same error with 1.69.0: Version 1.70.0 does work with the same toolchain, so I guess something must have been fixed/changed in that particular Rust version (probably related to (a version bump of) the included LLVM). |

We worked around the issue by using Rust 1.75.0, see EESSI/software-layer-scripts#86 and #1200. |
Doing some tests to debug the issue observed in #1098 (comment). First trying to build Rust 1.70.0 with the same toolchain to find out if it's a problem with Rust itself, since 1.70.0 was successfully built with GCC 12.3.0.
