YouTube Captions not working

Im using the cdn installation with the plyr layout.
I'm having an issue where YouTube videos wont show the option to toggle on or off closed captions.

Setting the usual parameters in the src url such as cc_load_policy=1 seems to be ignored and i can't find anything in the documentation that indicates how to control this. In fact passing any paramuthat way or via attributes doesn't seem to work.

My understanding is the player should be picking up the presence of captions automatically but no matter which layout i use for YouTube this doesn't seem to be working.

Is there a setting im missing? Am i doing something wrong?
